A SIMPLY EXTRAORDINARY DAY FOR ALL AGES TO HAVE FUN
TO CELEBRATE OUR MEDIEVAL TOWER BEING RESTORED WE WILL BE TAKING MERE BACK TO MEDIEVAL TIMES WITH JESTERS, FIRE EATERS, HUMAN STATUES, KNIGHTS, MINSTRELS, FIGHTING KNIGHTS, SWORD SCHOOL, STILT WALKERS, COOKING DISPLAYS, EXHIBITIONS AND MUCH, MUCH MORE. MERE WILL HAVE THE MEDIEVAL DAY OF ITS LIFE.
During the day our Writer in Residence Jane Borodale will be giving readings from her stories that she has based on the Tower histories and Richard Nye, our Composer in Residence will be leading Mere School, Shreen Harmony and The Tower Stories choir in his commission “The Anthem for Mere”.
A quarter peal will be played by Mere Bell Ringers.
An exhibition of Steve Hawkins’ photographs of The Tower Stories will be in St Michael’s.
Showings of the film of the Tower restoration will be played several times throughout the day in St Michael’s.
All Mere’s fine food, drink and retail outlets will be open and welcoming all visitors to Mere throughout the day.
