Richard Nye has been appointed as Composer in Residence for The Tower Stories,a ten month community project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and supported by The Friends of St Michael’s Church in Mere. The residency will run from September 2024 – June 2025.
Richard will be researching, composing and workshopping music that interprets and brings alive the medieval 124 ft Tower of St Michael’s the Archangel Church in Mere, Wiltshire. Richard lives in Dorset and has:
- 22 published works and is a house composer with a UK music production company
- Numerous national and international concert performances
- Experience in orchestration, sound recording, field recording and audio production
- Experience in the latest music technology
- 30 years of teaching experience
He says “During the last thirty years I have been fortunate to have had music commissioned, performed, published and broadcast. My music has been performed at the Southbank Centre, Wigmore Hall and the Fairfield Halls in London, at venues in the United States, Asia, Australia and Europe and at festivals both in the UK and abroad.”
Richard continues “People of any age are wonderful creators and I relish the opportunity to share The Tower Story project with them and to compose something special and lasting for Mere.”
